Fork

A split in a blockchain’s protocol, resulting in two separate versions of the blockchain. Forks can be hard forks (permanent divergence) or soft forks (backward-compatible updates).

FUD (Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt)

Negative sentiment or misinformation spread to create panic and drive down cryptocurrency prices.

Faucet

A website or application that distributes small amounts of cryptocurrency for free, often used to introduce new users to crypto.

Flash Loan

A type of uncollateralized loan in DeFi that allows users to borrow funds instantly, provided the loan is repaid within the same transaction block.

Fiat On-Ramp

A service that allows users to convert fiat currency (e.g., USD, EUR) into cryptocurrency.

Forked Coin

A new cryptocurrency created as a result of a blockchain fork, often retaining the transaction history of the original chain.

Front-Running

A practice where traders or miners exploit advance knowledge of pending transactions to profit from price movements.

Flippening

The hypothetical event where Ethereum’s market capitalization surpasses Bitcoin’s.

Fiat Off-Ramp

A service that allows users to convert cryptocurrency into fiat currency (e.g., USD, EUR).

Flash Crash

A sudden and dramatic drop in the price of a cryptocurrency, often caused by large sell orders or market manipulation.

Fully Diluted Market Cap

The total market value of a cryptocurrency if all possible tokens or coins were in circulation.
